How to select a mechanical seal
The purpose of the pressure seal is to seal containers with different pressures, the principle is in a friction pair (moving and stationary) between materials: ceramics and graphite, alloy steel and graphite, silicon carbide and graphite, graphite and tungsten carbide. The seal operates on the basis of tight fit of two perfectly smooth surfaces at the ends, one stationary, seated in the pump body, and the second rotating on the motor rotor shaft and pressed against each other by a spring. The seal materials depend on the type of liquid, its temperature, operating conditions and pressure in the pump part. In household pumps, this is most often ceramics - graphite with materials of the polyurethane or rubber group (rubber). In cases of special purpose - from materials of increased wear resistance and susceptibility to aggressive environments and temperatures.
In order to correctly select a pressure spring (6) seal, which consists of a moving part (1 - rotates on the rotor shaft) and a stationary part (2 - a ceramic ring 4 in a rubber band 3), it is important to know the diameter of the rotor shaft at the point of grip 7 of the moving part and the outer diameter of the stationary ring in an elastic frame (3)

We select based on the main parameters:
rotor shaft diameter d2
diameter of fixed ring in rubber d1
and (last but not least) the overall height h1 (with ring) of the seal for efficient spring operation

You can choose a pressure seal in our catalog of end seals by main parameters
